Sažetak
The aim of this study was to explore internal relations and taxonomic status of typical lowlands (I. sibirica L. subsp. sibirica) and highlands (I. sibirica L. subsp. erirrhiza (Pospichal) Wraber) populations, using morphology, anatomy, cytogenetics, palinology and chloroplast DNA. On the basis of research conducted so far it can be concluded that there is indication that point towards their separate taxonomic status. These are some morphometric properties, certain anatomical features, number and appearance of chromosomes and the structure of pollen of some populations. Preliminary results of molecular analysis do not present a significant separation of these populations. With regard to differentiation of lowlands and highlands populations on the basis of most researched features it can be concluded that it is probably a matter of ecotypes of species Iris sibirica sensu lato, which should be confirmed with further investigations.
