Sažetak
In contemporary business environment IT obtrudes as certain or even leading factor of company’ s competitive advantages. In such context, management must be provided with adequate information as basis for business projections and business decisions. The question is how to draft Information System (IS) which will ensure in-time adequate business information, and at the same time information about external trends or environmental changes. What is, from the economic point of view, the righteous way of approaching to the creation of IS intended for business? Is it by using the company’ s own resources or by engaging external experts, considering relation between IS creation and implementation costs and, on the other side, benefits that will such IS bring to the company? And, overall, how to evaluate this benefits and could they be accurately evaluated? Croatian companies have different approach to this problem and this paper proposes the way that management should ensure the construction of IS, relevant parameters for estimation of IS construction costs and benefits of its implementation.
