Sažetak
Scientific development of traffic flow theory is aiming to find answers on two essential questions: (1) when and how does a vehicle, or group of vehicles, appear on a section of road ; and (2) how does a vehicle (or group of vehicles) move on that road segment? Those questions also frequently appear in applied researches, from efforts for improvement of existing theories to pure professional and commercial goals for realisation of better automatic (intelligent) traffic systems. Historical development of applied mathematical tools for traffic flow analyses is also evident. Generally, discrete mathematics represents basic structure of models used in today's automatic traffic systems. Application of different mathematic structures makes it impossible to reach a unique general model. The aim of this paper is to define different general traffic flow models regarding the mathematical tools used.
