Sažetak
The results after 6 months of the verbotonal method were encouraging. The listener had developed the listening skills even to the level that allowed him to be mainstreamed into society again. The speech perception in quiet and optimal condition (at the speaking rate of 4-5 syllables per second) was almost without errors. The telephone conversation was achieved even with the unknown speakers of the unprepared material. Listening to radio was possible with speakers of the optimal sound qualities (“ clear speech” ). The environmental sounds were perceived without distortion and annoying white noise components. The perception of vowel was also without errors. However, music perception was not as developed as with the hearing aid. The enjoyment of listening to music material was possible with only basic and simple melodies. As for the music perception, it took more than 2 years to achieve a comfortable and joyful perception. Regarding the shape of the progress, it was in a step-like (non-linear) fashion. It means that the speech perception improvement was not correlated linearly with time but rather occurred in steps or jumps when subject suddenly realized the improvement.
