Sažetak
Purpose: The authors hypothetize that levels of some cellular markers, namely eosinophil cationic protein (ECP), myeloperoxidase (MPO) and tryptase (try) in nasal lavages prior to distilled water nasal challenge correlate with the increase in nasal resistance (NAR) to distilled water nasal challenge in hyperreactive subjects. Material and methods: In a group of 15 patients with nasal hyperreactivity nasal lavage was performed with 10ml of saline. ECP, MPO and try levels was determined by RIA. One hour after lavage nasal challenge with the inhalation of 10 ccm of distilled water through the face mask and jet nebulizer was performed. Active anterior rhinomanometry was performed prior and after the challenge.Results. A siginificant increase in NAR was demonstrated p<0,05. Correlation coeficient between increased NAR and ECP was 0,46, between NAR and MPO -0,05 and NAR and tryptase -0,35. All correlations between markers themselves and markers and NAR were insignificant (p<0,05).
