Sažetak
At the moment, Croatia is one of the biggest construction sites in Europe, in wich more than 250 km of new highways are under construction. Croatia is Mediterrannean country in wich is one of the most important imperatives of development is highway connection of two biggest Croatian cities, Zagreb the Capital and Split at the Adriatic Sea. This highway connection is 380 km long, and runs from continental parts of Croatia, trough Croatian mountainous region to Adriatic Sea. Most of the structures on this highway are made of concrete. This very complex terrain and construction, as well as, different climate zones through which this highway passes, led to implementation of new scientific understandings and experiences with regards of durability of concrete structures in design of bridgews. Designers of this highway had to combine fast and quality construction of structures and yet they have to achieve satisfying serviceability and sustainability during its designed service life. Different types of structures, ranging from cast on situ to precast structures, were designed on this highway. The designers had to optimize the need of fast and quality construction and dwemands for its durability.
