Sažetak
By a displey of the comprehensive exploration performed and the design or selection of dam types in carbonate rocks at the dam sites of HE LEŠĆE and HE LUČICE, the substance of engineering geology and geotechnical works aimed for the preparation of documented synthesised bases in the form of engineering geology and geotechnical models are shown. In the paper, through analysis and synthesis, a contribution to the methodology of engineering geology and geotechnical modelling is made by separation of blocks on the basis of the engineering classifications "Q", "RMR" and "JAK" and by the inclusion of the asymmetry coefficient " K_A" as a substantial parameter for the selection of dam type (gravitational, arch dam). A new classification, "JAK" , has been introduced. Through the application of this classification, the relationship between engineering geological characteristics and the geotechnical properties of rocks is better balanced. The cases analyzed indicate that even comprehensive complex explorations, if there is no adequate analysis (the definition of asymmetry coefficient), can result in the selection of inadequate dam type.
