Sažetak
Complexation of alkali metal cations with 5, 11, 17, 23-tetra-tert-butyl-26, 28, 25, 27-tetrakis(O-methyl-D- -phenylglycylcarbonylmethoxy)calix 4 arene [1] in methanol and acetonitrile was studied by means of direct and competitive microcalorimetric titrations. The stability constants of the corresponding 1:1 complexes were determined, the values obtained being in good agreement with those measured previously by UV spectrophotometry [2]. Calorimetric titrations also provided information about the enthalpies and entropies of complexation reactions. All the reactions investigated were enthalpy driven. In addition, solubilities (and consequently solution Gibbs energies) of the ligand and its complexes in both solvents were determined, as were the corresponding solution enthalpies and entropies. The thermodynamic data were discussed regarding the structural properties of the ligand and cations, as well as the solvation abilities of the solvents examined.
