Sažetak
The data of serotyping and toxin typing of A. pleuropneumoniae strains by gel diffusion precipitation test and PCR isolated from large representative pig breeding farms in Croatia indicated that the recently observed severe outbreaks and also the isolated cases of porcine pleuropneumonia in Croatia with sudden deaths are due to A. pleuropneumoniae serotype 9 which has not been isolated in Croatia previously. The isolation of ApxI-producing A. pleuropneumoniae strains correlates with the clinical observations from these new outbreaks which show particularly high mortality. These new outbreaks differ from the previously observed situation of porcine pleuropneumonia in Croatia which was caused by the nedemically present, less toxigenic serotypes 2 and 7, and probably in some extent by serotype 8.
