Sažetak
Several alicyclic and aliphatic carboxylic acids are transformed into the corresponding nitriles by treatment with MeCN and sulfuric acid. In the case of benzoic acid or by lowering the reaction temperature, amides and dicarboxamides are isolated in addition to the nitriles. It is assumed that these products are intermediates of the present route and that the nitriles are finally formed by dehydration of intermediate amides.
