Sažetak
The paper provides a survey on reconstruction of important Croatian bridges, wich have been destroyed in the course of war in 1991 and 1992. Before the war there were eight bridges across the Sava river on the border between the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. All of them were severely damaged in the course of war and reconstructedin post-war period. Three more bridges crossing the Drava River in Osijek were also affected. Among other important bridges destoyed in tha war , there are two exceptional structures on the coast of the Adriatic Sea: the Maslenica Bridge and the Pag Bridge. While the Pag Bridge was renovated in 1999, the Maslenica Bridge reconstruction was completed only last year. These case studies demonstrated that the reconstruction of the damaged bridge may be, and often is, an engineering task even more demanding than the design of a completely new bridge.
