Sažetak
With market pressure today, projects are becoming more wasteful and budget exceeding than ever. Reports for all around the industry, testify that scientists are trying to find an effective way to monitor progress of construction project and thus influence its performance. This paper describes and discuses position of monitoring system and their effectiveness in construction projects. It explains the definition of monitoring system and describes its vital parts. Barriers which can obstruct performance of monitoring systems are also described, such as: time, access to data and technology proficiency. Paper presents evidence from ongoing construction project in Croatia and gives a critical review of effectiveness of monitoring system implemented. At the end it concludes with assessment monitoring systems in construction projects today, with enhancing areas of further research.
