Sažetak
Affective and cognitive schemes (internal working models) formed during the early experience with primary attachment figures influence person's expectation and interpretation of the self, others, and relational behavior in all close relationships. Attachment theorists usually divide working models into models of self and models of other or into two dimensions: anxiety (fear of rejection and abandonment) and avoidance (discomfort with closeness and discomfort depending on others). Attachment theory perspective is often used as a framework for understanding the nature and etiology of loneliness. In adolescence loneliness is quite common experience. Although adolescents achieve new level of autonomy from their parents they also remain attached to them. Weiss (1971) proposed that absence of attachment figure is major reason for person to feel lonely. The aim of this study was to test the role of dimensions of attachment in relation to father and to mother in prediction of family loneliness among adolescents. The Close Relationships Questionnaire (Brennan, Clark, Shaver, 1998) was used to assess the dimensions of attachment. Family loneliness was assessed by subscale derived from Social and Emotional Loneliness Scale (Cubela Adoric, Nekic, 2004). 201 high school students and 202 college students participated in this study. Analysis show that in the high school sample over 30 percent of the variance of family loneliness can be explained by anxiety in relation with father, and by avoidance in relation with father and mother. In college sample anxiety in relation with mother, and avoidance in relation with father and mother accounted for about 40 percent of the variance of family loneliness. Results were explained in framework of attachment theory and developmental changes during adolescence.
