Sažetak
Due to their high basicity, guanidines are widely used as catalysts in a number of base catalysed organic reactions.[1] They can also serve as ligands in the transition metal catalyzed organic reactions.[1, 2] Recently, we have prepared a series of novel type of highly basic guanidine derivatives possessing multiple intramolecular hydrogen bond.[3] This was achieved by replacing imino and/or amino hydrogen atoms at each of the amino groups with dimethylaminopropyl or metoxypropyl- group. In this work, their catalytic activity in some selected reactions, like transesterifications or Knoevenagel reaction will be explored and compared with that of commercially available guanidine catalysts. In addition, their potential as ligands in Heck reaction will be briefly discussed.
