Sažetak
Specific characteristics of excavating dimension stone, in relation to the other mineral raw materials, are reflected in the fact that a regularly shaped block is to be obtained from disintegrated mass. Therefore, a deposit should have a structural fabric which enables excavation of healthy blocks. Disintegrated masses, as real geological medium, are heterogeneous and full of fissures, i.e. discontinued. Discontinuity systems have negative connotation because a thick fracture-net divides the rock in smaller irregularly shaped pieces, so the smaller irregular blocks are excavated, whose commercial value is low and the excavation losses are high. In some cases the fracture system is positive since it makes the exploitation of the blocks easier. In tectonically undisturbed deposits, a rare fracture-net, in which the interspace among fractures is rather large, and discontinuities are mutually parallel and perpendicular, provides and makes easier the exploitation of blocks of optimum dimensions for commercial purposes, used in industrial production. Anyhow in the exploitation of dimension stone it is necessary to adapt it to the natural structural fabric of a deposit to the maximum because this makes the exploitation The paper gives the example of the useful method of massive deposits exploitation in the Sivac quarry. Presented are the best methods of rock mass exploitation in case when the optimum bench heights amounted between 7 and 9 m. The modified exploitation method for the geologically more complicated deposits with substantial open fractures was presented on the example of the Kupinovo quarry. This way of block exploitation from the deposits with remarkable open fractures can also be applied in the quarries where the stone structure varies according to type, color and layerness angle as it is the case in the Dragonjik quarry. The article also includes the results of the experimental testings of dependence of the sawing productivity and durability of diamond wire upon the position change of the diamond wire saw. The results of these research provided the application of the exploitation technology in the previously stated methods. which increased the productivity effects of the rock mass.
