Sažetak
As a part of the project for "Removal of barriers for energy efficiency in Croatia", a wider introduction of compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) in residential sector was considered. Due to the big energy saving potential of CFL (CFL saves up to 80% of energy compared to standard, incandescent lamp) and the ease of upgrade (CFL can be mounted in almost every home luminaire with E27/E14 base), they present an optimal product for EE (Energy Efficiency) promotions. Rough estimates give the potential base of 4-5 millions of light points in Croatian residential sector that are equipded with incandescent lamp, and can be easily upgraded to CFL light source. This is the base for the potential reduction of energy consumption, which will contribute to reduction of emissions of green house gasses (GHG(. As the original ProDoc elaborated, one of the means for removing barriers for wider usage of CFLs in residential sector was the bulk purchase of CFLs and direct distribution to the end user through alternative channels (post offices or electrical dostribution). This mechanism would, as shown on numerous examples in different countries, significantly reduce the end-user price of CFL and make it much more affordable to residential sector, especially in the countries with lower buying power. However, during longer implementation period of project, the market situation changed considerably, bringing the wider CFL product portofolio to the end user at much more acceptable prices. In this way, one of the known barriers for bigger penetration of CFL products to the residential segment was overcome by the market evolution. This situation led to the need for change of foreseen funds spending. This document will elaborate other alternatives , which achieve the same objective - removal of barriers for energy efficiency.
