Sažetak
Mechanical hyperventilation is widely used in patients with severe brain injury. The use of continous jugular bulb oximetry demonstrated that a great number of desaturations ocured during hyperventilation and they were associated with poor outcome. Even with intermittent measurements of SjO2 many periods of desaturation occurred. The aim of this study was to evaluate continous versus intermittent SjO2 monitoring in detecting desaturation periods in patients with severe brain injury.
