Sažetak
Gathering of anthropometric data is a complex process which is time-consuming, expensive and requires a qualified interdisciplinary team of experts and highly trained measurers. Many countries have carried out comprehensive anthropometric measurements in order to improve the sizing system at the national level, and then revised their sizes standards several times since the shape of the human body has been changing over time. The determination of sizes and the interest in improving the current standards in the next decades will increase since the human lifespan is going to increase substantially as well. The Current Croatian Standards HRN are based on the anthropometric measurements in the former Yugoslavia which were carried out in the region of Vojvodina more than four decades ago, and which are more than obsolete from the aspect of todays types of statures and body heights. Therefore, it is high time to undertake concrete measures in this respect in the Republic of Croatia, with the aim of achieving the levels of sizing standards achieved by many European countries. This was the starting idea of the experts in initiating the complex technological and research project "Croatian Anthropometric System (TP 02-0117-012)". As part of this project a survey was carried out including 30, 000 respondents from the birth of children to 82 years of age, divided into 54 age classes in all 20 counties and the capital of the Republic of Croatia. The starting bases for determining the body measures are the ISO and UN standards. In this way a real projection of body heights, chest measures, feet lenght, body mass, etc. with those in other countries. The measurement results will serve as the basis for developing a projection of the new Croatian standard of clothing sizes and sizes of footwear. The interest in determining the system ofm sizes will even increase over time since the number of users is expected to double by 2030.
