Sažetak
A pre-programmed air volume obtained from animal biozone by a standard air sampler (MAS-100, Merck) was directly impacted onto the agar surface (standard 90 mm Petri dishes). In 48 air samples tested, total bacterial count ranged from 8.44 to 5.35 CFUm3, with a mean farm count of 2.595 CFU/m3. Streptococcus spp., Micrococccus spp., E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus suis predominated in all samples. In some of the samples, the following potentially pathogenic agents were detected: Pasteurella multocida (66%), Actinobacillus suis (50%), haemolytic strains of E.coli (41%), and Pasteurella haemolytica, Bordetella bronchiseptica and Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae (33%). Results of the study indicated that the total bacterial count in the air as well as the presence of potentially pathogenic bacteria in acute epizootics of respiratory diseases in pigs could be accurately determined by use of a sophisticated air sampler and highly selective media.
