Sažetak
Lions Croatian Eye Bank was opened on December, 5. 1995. at the Department of Ophtalmology on the GH "Sveti Duh". LHOB is the first human organs bank in Croatia. Materials are taken according to the Law of Organ Harvesting and Human Body Parts Transplantation (1990) in co-operation with some other Croatian hospitals. Harvesting, proceeding and storage is made according to the protocol of the EEBA (European Eye Banks Association), from the Third European Cornea Bank Conference, Leiden, Netherlands, 1990. Beside corneas, LCEB works on proceedings of scleras, and in experimental phase is the cultivation of the retinal pigment epithelial cells and amnion in purpose of transplantation.
