Sažetak
The main characteristics of distributed electricity generation that could be usefully implemented in Croatia are analyzed in this paper. Technical influence of distributed sources on the existing power generation as well as on the transmission system and distribution network is shown. Possible solutions for the technical problems specific to the Croatian power system arising from large wind farms generated electricity are discussed. An estimation of potential for construction of certain distributed power sources is given, especially for wind power facilities in the future, small power plants and biomass power plants. The problem of delivering electricity from the wind power plants with regard to their specific operation is accentuated. Furthermore, the expected legislative framework regarding renewable energy sources as an incentive for their wider usage in Croatia that influence on distributed electricity generation is discussed. Thus, in the case of Croatia, the important goal is to accomplish the outlined objectives of the EU regarding the usage volume of renewable energy sources by the year 2010. Finally, jurisdiction and specific tasks of the Croatian Energy Regulatory Agency concerning the renewable energy sources are outlined.
