Sažetak
Preference for one synonymous codon over the others has a pronounced effect in prokaryotes - codon usage patterns are shown to vary on different levels: between genomes, within a genome, and even within a single gene. In order to quantify the effect, various measures (statistics) of codon usage were devised, some of which can be used to predict gene expressivity.
