Sažetak
Zoltán Kodály was a composer, ethnomusicologist and advocate of music education for children. He believed that music belongs to everyone. The most basic of Kodály's ideas is that the use of good music is vital to the life of every person. He recognized art music of the European tradition and its folk music as "good". He especially favored the beautiful pentatonic melodies of the Hungarians and admired the a cappella vocal music of the Renaissance. If we know that the very last object of music instruction in the elementary school is the aesthetic education of a child, we must take care about the repertoire and we agree with Kodály when he asserted that only music of the higest quality should be used in school. Teacher possesses musical knowledge and skills, love and understanding of children, so can combine various approaches and methods into a personal pedagogy, that suits the teacher, the pupils and the music.
