Sažetak
Tram tracks, as a special group of track construction, have received less attention in comparison to classical rail tracks. The valid regulations in the field of railways (UIC, VDV Oberbau-Richtlinien, CEN) gives little or no consideration to tram tracks. Though they are characterized by lower vehicle speeds and a lower load per wheel, the frequent damage they receive suggests the need for greater attention. During supervision of the reconstruction of various types of tram tracks in Zagreb (about 80 km of tram tracks reconstructed in the period 1994-2005), it was established that the greatest percentage of damage occurs at the rail weld site, where irregularities are common on the rail running surface. Repairs to damages are always expensive and require halting tram traffic, and oftentimes road traffic in those sections where tram and road traffic share the same traffic surface. This paper describes the fatigue strength testing of three types of rail welds: aluminothermic welding, electric-arch welding and innershield welding. The testing was conducted on rail type Ri-60, quality 700 (minimum tensile strength 680 N/mm2) which is used in the Zagreb tram tracks.
