Sažetak
Background: Cutaneous metastases are defined as cancer involving the dermis or sub¬ ; ; cutaneous tissue that is not contiguous with primary neoplasm. Objective: To present a rare case of massive cutaneous metastases in a patient diag¬ ; ; nosed with endometrial and left ovarian carcinoma. Methods: A 64-year-old woman was operated on for endometrial carcinoma in December 2002. The procedure consisted of hysterectomy, bilateral adnexectomy and total omenectomy followed by radiotherapy. Histologic finding: Adenocarcinoma endometrii G2, Adenocarcinoma ovarii lat. sin. At the beginning of 2004, the patient noted rapidly growing tumorous lesions appearing on the anterior abdominal wall, then involving the vulva, almost entire right and in part left mammary region. The tumors were reddish and livid-red, of uneven surface, mostly ulcerated, and associated with severe pain. Histologic analysis of a probatory tumor excision indicated metastatic carcinoma. Histologic finding corresponded to endometrioid adenocarcinoma with areas of squa¬ ; ; mous differentiation. The patient underwent palliative radiotherapy with three fractions of 600 cGy, two direct electron beams of 20 MEV, 23x20 and 25x25 in dimension, equiva¬ ; ; lent to a total dose of 3200 cGy. In addition, Depo-Provera 1000 mg, twice a week i.m., 16 ampules in total, was prescribed. The patient suffered pain increasing in severity in spite of therapy, her general state deteriorated daily, and she died six months of the first occurence of cutaneous metastases. Conclusion: Although rare, cutaneous metasatases of endometrial carcinoma may sub¬ ; ; stantially interfere with the patient quality of life and lead to lethal outcome of the disease.
