Sažetak
Aim was to determine the frequency of patch test positivity to the different contact aller¬ ; ; gens according patients gender, age, occupational history and clinical feature. Between 1999 and 2003 we patch tested 3 293 patients. Methods: The patients had been diag¬ ; ; nosed clinically. All patients had been patch- tested using a standard technique with a Croatian standard patch test series allergens and reading schedule at both 48 and 72 hours. Results: Our research proved a statistically significant difference in the response of the patch - tested patients according to given parameters. For the following three allergens (cobalt chloride, nickel sulfate and thiomersal) this difference is expressed according to sex and age. For the nine allergens (cobalt chloride, nickel sulfate, balsam of Peru, fragrance mix, thiuram mix, wood tars, neomycin sulfate, thiomersal and deter¬ ; ; gents), significant difference is expressed according to occupational history. According clinical diagnoses there were three allergens dominant (nickel sulfate, wood tars and detergents). Conclusion: The relative risk for having positive patch test and allergic con¬ ; ; tact dermatitis revealed to relevant allergens: nickel sulfate, cobalt chloride and carba mix which were found in all examinees. Increased awareness of allergens and their potential sources may help to limit the usage of these chemicals in manufacturing con¬ ; ; consumer products.
