Sažetak
The determination of trace elements in edible oils is interesting for nutrition because of the metabolic role of metals in organisms, for adulteration detection and oil characterization. The quantification of the trace element content of oils was carried out using microwave digestion procedures followed by ICP-AES and GFAAS. The sensitivity of the ICP-AES technique was sufficient for the determination of Ca, Fe, Mg, Na, and Zn. Since the samples contained very low amounts of Al, Cu, Co, Cr, K, Ni, Mn, and Pb, these elements were measured by GFAAS. Differences of metal concentrations for edible oils can be used as an additional possibility for oil characterization, besides the analyses of the organic components.
