Sažetak
Based on its experience in underwater acoustic systems design, and specific knowledge of the MCM tactics, Brodarski Institut designed, built, installed and tested a low cost custom designed MCM system for COOP ships, based on the commercial "of the shelf" equipment with near military specifications. The system is optimised to the expected threat and specific operating environment. The system proved that if carefully chosen and properly integrated, commercial equipment can be effectively used in MCM activities. The successful implementation of such a system asks for a certain level of knowledge and expertise. Also, because of its custom design nature, it takes more time and effort in the integration and commissioning phases as some minor troubles can always be expected. The system requires well trained and motivated operators that would use the system to its full potentials. The system s MTBF and maintenance costs figures should be established during the exploitation. That will help to assess the complete cost and the quality of the system.
