Sažetak
Acoustic technology has attracted considerable interest in recent years in the surveillance applications due to its numerous advantages. Acoustic sensors are passive, can detect, localize and identify target at long ranges, have non-line-of-sight detection capabilities and are jam resistant. They can be used as standalone units, as cueing devices for other sensors (image, IR), or can be networked by data links. They can be hands placed or deployed from artillery weapons, aircraft and helicopters. In this work the multi-discipline scientific and technological requirements for the development of such sensor are exploited. This would include sound propagation studies and full scale measurements, acoustic signature databases, array processing, localization and tracking algorithms and target identification and pattern recognition algorithms.
