Sažetak
Underwater acoustic communication has proved to be very difficult owing to the time varying multipath propagation and frequency spreading of acoustic signal in the underwater acoustic communication channel. In this paper the propagation of acoustic signal along multiple paths is observed. From the received equivalent lowpass signal, the statistical nature of the hydroacoustic communication channel response is derived. The channel is characterized as the Rayleigh fading channel. The frequency time correlation function and the scattering function that fully characterize the channel behavior are defined. These functions give the measure of the time and frequency coherence of the channel, thus enabling the signal parameters optimization
