Sažetak
Entrepreneurship has been recognized as one of the crucial variables in the development process. Fostering entrepreneurship is essential for the creation of wealth and economic progress. It plays a significant role in creating new jobs, influencing regional and local development, accessing new markets, introducing new small- and medium businesses which altogether leads to higher level of competitiveness of the national economy. Managing the structural and social changes is the challenge that has been faced by many transition economies. Imperfect legal framework, inefficient institutional infrastructure with large number of administrative and regulatory barriers, entry and exit barriers, lack of financial resources as well as rigidities and bottlenecks in the mobility of resources are the main obstacles for developing favorable environment for entrepreneurs. In this paper we will examine these issues with a special view on Croatian experiences.
