Sažetak
1 , 25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1 , 25-(OH)2D3) modulates the immune response via specific receptors expressed in antigene presenting cells (APC) and activated T cells. Dendritic cells (DC) are the primary targets for its immunosuppressive effects: 1,  25-(OH)2D3 inhibits their differentiation and maturation and modulates their activation and survival. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying these actions are not well characterized. The microarray analyses profiling, performed on DCs originating from bone marrow and treated with vitamin D3, has revealed many new gene candidates. Grouped in four clusters: a) immuno-receptors ; b) chemokines and chemokine receptors ; c) growth factors, cytokines and related receptors ; d) neuro-endocrine hormones and related receptors, they probably influence this process. These results clearly justify the microarray method as “ hypothesis generating” , very powerful in offering an impressive amount of data but not the final story without confirmation at the protein level.
