Sažetak
Background and purpose: Research has been conducted on weed and ruderal vegetation of a class Stellarietea mediae R. Tx. et al. ex von Rochow 1951 in central part of the East Adriatic coast. In the past, this vegetation represented a significant part of the Mediterranean landscape, but is now disappearing due to emigration of island population and abandonment of a traditional agricultural production. The status of this type of vegetation in this particualar area has not been systematicaly studied yet. Material and methods: A total of 96 vegetational relevés were made and elaborated according to the standard procedures of the Braun-Blanquet method. Numerical analysis of relevés was performed. Results: The phytosociological analysis has shown that the studied vegetation can be classified into four associations within three orders – Ass. Tribulo-Amarantheum Hodak ex Pandža, Franjić et Škvorc 2005 (Eragrostietalia), Ass. Chenopodietum muralis Br.-Bl. et Maire 1924, Ass. Lavateretum cretico-arboreae Br.-Bl. et Molinier 1935 (Chenopodietalia muralis), and Ass. Hordeetum leporini Br.-Bl. 1936 (Sisymbretalia officinalis). Numerical analysis of relevés shows a clear distinction between the weed vegetation of Eragrostietalia and ruderal vegetation of Chenopodietalia muralis and Sisymbretalia officinalis. Within the ruderal vegetation, a fair distinction can be recognized between a more nitrophilous Chenopodietalia muralis and a less nitrophilous Sisymbretalia officinalis. Conclusion: Ruderal and weed vegetation mostly occurs in the Central Adriatic area, but all communities are endangered due to negative anthropogenic activities, the result of which is a rapid decrease in the areas they cover.
