Sažetak
By means of E-, EA-, and EAC-rosette formation, T and B markers have been determined on peripheral blood lymphocytes of 32 patients with leukemia. In 16 patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia, a high percentage of EAC-rosettes was found, so that the disease could be classified into B-type leukemia. The percentage of E-rosettes was rather low in these patients, but the number of E-rosettes (viz. T-lymphocytes) was within the normal range, except for 2 patients with an active disease, serious clinical condition and bad prognosis. These findings indicate that T-lymphocytes were probably diluted by the dominant population of B-cells. The decrease in the number of T-lymphocytes, with signs of immunological deficiency, might have clinical implications. In 16 patients with acute leukemia (9 with acute myeloblastic leukemia and 7 with acute lymphoblastic leukemia) the percentage of all 3 types of rosettes (E-, EA-, and EAC-) was decreased in the acute phase of the disease, and paralleled by an increase in the percentage of immature cells. During remission, the percentage of rosettes was increased, but not to such an extent as to permit the classification of leukemia into the T- or B-variety.
