Sažetak
This study is an analysis of the present method for assessing road conditions on the basis of visual inspection in the Republic of Croatia. It was conceived with the goal of answering two basic questions: a)To what extent are the present methods for assessing pavement conditions reliable? b)How can existing methods for recording road conditions be improved? General directives are proposed for improving the manner of pavement condition assessment, which should be based on separate ratings of various types of pavement distress. The study has been conceived as preliminary phase for examining the possible application of system for the planning and management for pavement maintenance in Croatia.
