Sažetak
This study is based on the spring temperatures and laying dates of first eggs of tree passerines (Great Tit, Tree Sparrow, Starling). Laying dates of first eggs were used as estimates of timing of breeding. Data was collected between 1980 and 2003 for three bird species for the Mokrice village area, 35 km north of Zagreb. Stepwise multiple regression procedure was conducted to investigate relationship between year and mean air temperature as an independent variables (predictor) and mean date of first laid egg as a dependent variable (separate analyses for every species). Temperature was only significant predictor in all three analyses. Results indicate that spring temperatures are a good predictor of the timing of egg laying.
