Sažetak
In the introduction probable reasons affecting yarn deformation at knitting are described. In the experimental part samples of plain jersey from cotton singles and ply yarns in the count range from 48 to 96 tex were knitted on an E6 automatic single bed hosiery machine. The samples were knitted applying different tensile forces at the feed side into the knitting system: 5, 10, 15 and 20 cN. Basic yarn properties before and after the knitting process were analysed. Yarn count, number of turns, breaking force, elongation at break, breaking work and breaking strength before and after knitting change considerably in the range of -19,32 to +36,4 procent.
