Sažetak
Josip Juraj Strossmayer was one of the most prominent political, religious, and cultural figures in Croatia during the second half of the 19th century. He guided and encouraged, for decades, the development of art and science in Croatia. One of his great achievements is establishing of the today's Strossmayer Gallery of Old Masters. Bishop's individuality and vision were built into the very foundation of the Gallery, and they have remained there throughout its existence.
