Sažetak
This paper presents eight-node, 24-d.o.f. quadrilateral shear-bending Reissner-Mindlin plate element valid for the analysis of thick to thin plates. The formulation of the element is derived from a displacement variational principle using mixed interpolation strategy in order to eliminate undesirable locking effect. The standard mixed interpolation was improved by the new location of the discrete points that leads to the insensitivity to the mesh distortion.
