Sažetak
Six different soils were tested in an NGI-type direct cyclic simple shear device to examine the effect of the average strain rate, , on the cyclic secant shear modulus, Gs, at small cyclic shear strain amplitudes,  c  0.001 - 0.01 %. The effect of on Gs is characterized by the strain-rate shear modulus parameter,  G, and the strain-rate shear modulus factor, . The parameter  G describes the slope of the data for a given  c, while is  G normalized to a reference Gs. The specific purpose of the paper is to present the correlations between  G and and the soils’ plasticity index, PI, and liquid limit, LL. The data for the six soils tested show that at a given  c both  G and generally increase with PI and LL. They also reveal that on average the effect of the straining rate increases as  c decreases
