Sažetak
In this study the rate of escapes of forensic inpatients from the Rab Psychiatric Hospital during the period form January 1, 1993 till December 31, 1997, was analyzed. Thirteen of 87 inpatients (14, 94%) tried to escape, 8 of them on several occasions. Most of ascaped inpatients manifested early criminal tendencies, insufficiency of social and moral standards, significant personality imparment and alcohol abuse. The escapes were most frequently initiated within the hospital area ; a significant proportion was related to the loss of cognitive control, however, the number of instrumental escapes was also quite high. There appears to be an extremely high-risk group in the population of forensic inpatients requiring a higher level of security in forensic departments because of the real possibility and risk of relapse.
