Sažetak
Paper briefly presents an overview of past and recent achievements in structural engineering in Croatia. Testimonies of the creative spirit and the building craftsmanship in our country are numerous and diverse. They express a culture of building, of arts and sciences, strongly determined by historical realities. The cruel war (1991. - 1996.) inflicted enormous damages, primarily on housing stock, roads and other infrastructure facilities. The reconstruction strategy, comprising state financed housing reconstruction and local infrastructure development, have been reviewed. Essential facts on the largest Croatian infrastructure project, the construction of motorway network, are presented. Some of the new bridges are highlighted.
