Sažetak
The paper shows the most important achievements in bridge construction all around the world. It is shown how, in the recent years, limits have been overstepped in the field of different construction types and how preparations have been made for others great projects. Further more, point is made on the dimensions not being the sole criteria for the evaluation and success of the structure and that the appropriate attention should be given to the other factors, especially functionality and aesthetic. Except the structure being analyzed in detail and built with high quality, it should also contain elements of structural art. The optimum of these structural and artistic features brings us to the conclusion that even the small bridge can be proclaimed as a great achievement. Therefore, the builders are asked to give attention to all o fthe features used for bridge evaluation.
