Sažetak
An original and prolific school of bridge construction developed in Zagreb during the last century. The school was based on the contribution and works of many builders and university professors, but particularly on the work of two great men - Kruno Tonković and Milivoj Frković. The work of the school resulted in many valuble structures, some of universal value. It developed its own originality encapsulated in a specific appraoch to the functional and aesthetic value of every bridge, in the rational use of different materials, in the careful consideration of durability, and in the intervening processes of design and construction. This paper gives and overview of the origins and most important charcteristics of the Zagreb school of bridges.
