Sažetak
Mice were given injections of 0.3 ml of cellfree Ehrlich ascitic fluid (EAF). Seven to 28 days later, there were almost no plaque-forming cells (PFC) producing antibodies to sheep erythrocytes in mouse spleens. However, if splenocytes from EAF-treated mice were assayed for PFC production in lethally irradiated normal animals, they generated normal numbers of PFC. After transfer into EAF-treated and irradiated recipients, spleen cells from untreated mice were also unable to produce PFC. In the spleens and livers of EAF- treated mice, the phagocytosis of 5lCr-labeled sheep erythrocytes was weaker than that in the controls ; in vitro, spleen cells from EAF- treated mice had normal phagocytic activity. These results strongly indicated that EAF affected immunologic response by changing the splenic microenvironment, so that the accumulation and interaction processesof cells participating in the response to sheep erythrocytes were prevented. A less likely explanation is that EAF directly interfered with the activity of a particular cell type (thymus- derived lymphocytes, bone marrow-derived lymphocytes, or macrophages.
