Sažetak
A damage detection approach using modal data known as the "inverse problem" and based on system identification techniques is presented. The direct iteration technique based on the non-linear perturbation theory is utilized to identify structural damage, when information about only natural frequencies for the damaged structure is available. The efectiveness of the proposed numerical procedure is successively demonstrated via laboratory model of simply supported reinforced concrete beam subjected to statically loading to three levels. In order to investigate the application of the vibration based damage detection on real structures, dynamic tests were carried out on typical concrete girder bridges of different ages in Croatia. The present study is an attempt to determine how vibration frequencies can be used in the evaluation of bridge structures.
