Sažetak
Chronic recurrent urticaria and angioedema are frequent clinical problems in allergy practice which often remains unknowen in spite of the broad diagnostic procedure. Drug intolerance is the frequent history data. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether, in patients with recurrent urticaria and angioedema, in comparison to the controls, there exsist a different acetylator phenotype distribution. The acetylator phenotype was determined in 98 patienst with chronic urticaria and angioedema, while the control group consisted of 87 volunteers with negative history. The history of drug intolerance was present in 65 patients but using standard drug challenge test, it was confirmed in only 11 cases. We found a nearly identical acetylator phenotype distribution in both groups. In patients with documented drug intolerance, no significant difference in acetylator phenotype distribution were foun. It was conclude that the acetylator phenotype is not likely to play an important role in etiology of chronic recurrent urticaria and angioedema.
