Sažetak
The development of modern technology makes possible a new aapproach to design and building of structures as well as to the monitoring of their safety, serviceability and maintance. After a period of an intensive building in the last few decades in wich durability as a scientific category was not given enough attention, we have entered the time when it is necessary to adopt a scientific and much more professional approach to all phases of a building process to achieve the optimum durability of future structures and to prolong the durability of existing structures.
