Sažetak
In this paper authors focus on interdisciplinary research of the traditional boat gajeta from the island of Mljet. The research includes oral tradition, lexic, shipbuilding, navigation, as well as traditional maritime skills. There is also a description of a valuable discovery of traditional dry distillation of pinewood for the production of tar. Tar served for the conservation and paneling maintenance and was for centuries the only material used in boat painting.
