Sažetak
Last year we reported in Zagreb our first results about testing different baits. During the year 1997 we have conducted two further trials. Both were conducted in eastern Slavonia, on localities where the previous year more than one hundred beetles were caught on one trap. Nine types of the baits were used in these trials. In Otok from each type 16 baits were used. The trial in Nustar was without replications. The trials started July 3^rd. August 4^th all traps were replaced by new ones. Of all beetles caught in the trial in Otok, on the Hungarian pherotraps more than 90% of beetles were caught. The pherotraps produced in 1996 and stored in a freezer were also very efficient. On Multigard yellow traps in Otok 7, 2% of beetles were caught, in Nustar not a single one. On various types of traps with 4-methoxycinnamaldehide so as on yellow sticky plates only negligible numbers of beetles were caught. In the monitoring action, on sites where pherotraps were placed together with Multigard traps about 99% of beetles were caught on pherotraps. In this action the pherotraps produced in 1996 attracted a negligible smaller number of beetles as the new ones. Our results confirm that at lower densities of WCR population, as it is now in Croatia, the pherotraps attract by far the greatest number of beetles. The share of beetles attracted by pherotraps is negatively proportional to the density of population. In spite of these facts we consider important to continue a search for other cheaper traps which will be able to attract also females, and thus could be used for the control of the WCR.
